Some 17,000 Australians fought in the Korean War, with 346 killed in action.  In early 1951 during the crucial battle of Kapyong, 94 Australians of the 3rd Battalion Royal Australian regiment lost their lives when they were attacked by a vastly superior number of Chinese troops.  The war ended when a ceasefire was agreed on 27th July 1953.
